FamilyAlarm (“we”, “our”, or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our FamilyAlarm mobile application.
Information We Collect
Information Stored in Your iCloud
FamilyAlarm stores all your alarm and group data in your personal iCloud account using Apple’s CloudKit. This includes:
- Alarm times, labels, and settings
- Group names and membership
- Device registrations
We do not have access to this data. It is stored securely in your iCloud account and protected by Apple’s encryption.
Information Stored on Our Servers
Our notification server stores only the minimum information required to deliver push notifications:
- Device tokens – Anonymous identifiers provided by Apple to send notifications to your device
- User identifiers – Anonymous IDs to associate devices with accounts (no personal information)
We do NOT store:
- Your name or email address
- Alarm times or schedules
- Group names or members
- Calendar data
- Location data
Sign in with Apple
When you sign in with Apple, we receive only the anonymous user identifier provided by Apple. If you choose to share your email, it may be a private relay address. We use this solely for account identification.
How We Use Your Information
Device tokens are used exclusively to:
- Send alarm notifications to your devices
- Notify group members when alarms are set
- Sync alarm changes across your devices
Data Sharing
Group Sharing
When you share a group with others, alarm data is shared via Apple’s CloudKit sharing. This is end-to-end encrypted and managed by Apple, not by us.
Third Parties
We do not sell, trade, or share your information with third parties for marketing purposes. We do not use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.
Data Retention
- iCloud data: Retained until you delete it or delete your iCloud account
- Device tokens: Automatically removed when you unregister a device or uninstall the app
Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures:
- All communication uses HTTPS/TLS encryption
- iCloud data is encrypted by Apple
- Our servers store only anonymous identifiers
Children’s Privacy
FamilyAlarm complies with COPPA (Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app may use Apple’s age verification to provide age-appropriate experiences.
Your Rights
You can:
- Access your data: View all your alarms and groups in the app
- Delete your data: Delete alarms, groups, or your entire account from within the app
- Unregister devices: Remove device tokens via Settings > My Devices
